A Guide To Thoughtful Newborn Gifting
There is something wonderful about buying a gift for a new baby.
But there is also a slightly daunting question:
What do you actually buy?
There are tiny clothes, blankets, toys, keepsakes, books, muslins, feeding essentials… and an enormous number of things that a new baby could have.
So how do you choose something that feels thoughtful rather than simply adding another thing to an already very full nursery?
For us at Evie & Fenn, it starts with a simple question:
Will this be useful, beautiful or meaningful?
Ideally, all three.
Think about the stage they’re actually in.
A newborn doesn’t need a complicated toy collection. At those first few months, simple things can be the most useful.
Soft blankets and muslins can become everyday essentials. Books can become part of a bedtime routine long before a baby understands the words. Simple sensory toys can grow with them as they begin to grasp, explore and interact with the world around them.
And then there are the things that are simply lovely to keep.
A thoughtful gift doesn’t have to be something a baby needs immediately.
Sometimes the most special gifts are the ones that become part of their story.
Don’t be afraid to choose something simple
There’s so much choice when it comes to babies that it can be tempting to think a gift needs to be impressive.
We don’t think it does.
A beautifully made blanket.
A favourite book.
A carefully chosen toy.
A small keepsake.
Sometimes one lovely thing is much more meaningful than a box full of things chosen simply because you weren’t sure what else to buy.
That’s one of the reasons we created Evie & Fenn: to make that choice a little easier.
We’ve already done the searching and selecting, so you can spend less time wondering “What should I buy?” and more time thinking about the person you’re buying it for.
